How time flies by. I will be glad for the cooler weather. Not the cold winter, but the beautiful fall time with the wonderful colorful leaves and the crisp cool air. It’s invigorating. Fall and spring are my favorite times of the year. Hopefully, the fall will not be too short. Chattanooga can have funny weather at times. Freezing one month and mildly cool the next. Here are some past fall scenes.

Chattanooga is a beautiful place to live.

Had a great time this weekend and Monday. My husband’s cousin and his wife were in town from California and we played tour guide along with my husband’s sister and mom. Chattanooga has a new neat boat from the Aquarium that has a 90 minute tour up the Tennessee River. It was rainy, but it was still fun. We also went to the Hunter Museum of American Art. The temporary exhibit has a great glass artist there, William Morris. We later went to our house and I showed them how to make beads on my torch. I let them have a hand at it. They did pretty good for beginners. I think that anyone can do it. It’s one of those things, that the more you do the better you become.
I just sold a flattened Rolling Rock Beer bottle on my Etsy shop today. I’ve had a dry spell in the shop, hopefully this will mean the start of some more sales. With school now in session and the holiday coming upon us soon. The holidays do tend to come before we know it.
These will make great Christmas gifts. The flattened wine bottles make wonderful gifts also.

My son, Michael and his wife Cindy made it to Slovakia safe and sound. Slovakia is 6 hours ahead of us. It is 7:00 pm here, so that makes it 1:00 am there. Hopefully they will be getting their phone soon, so we will be able to call them from time to time. It least they do have e-mail. There is just something about hearing your loved ones voices that is so much better.

I have not posted on my blog for 5 months. Summer comes and I just could not bring myself to sit at the computer every night and blog, (not that I blog everyday). A lot has happened. My father passed away on July 28th. He had been sick for over 2 years. He had a blood disorder and he finally went home to heaven. My mom and I are doing well. We know that we will see him later. I think that it was harder to see him suffer and go down day by day. If there was going to be a chance that he would get better with some quality of life, then yes, I would want him here. He was so tired and knew he was not going to be here much longer. As a christian, there is that hope of life after death, through Jesus. We have that hope and know that we will see and be with him later.
The day after my father’s death, I forgot that my daughter was going to court the next day to finalize her divorce. When it rains it pours, you know. Well, my daughter broke her foot a few months back, then my youngest son broke his foot, about 3 or 4 weeks ago. Well, I told my oldest son that he was not allowed to break anything, because he and his wife are going over to Slovakia for 11 months. You know how things come in threes, well my husband fell off a latter at my mom’s and broke his hand!! Isn’t life funny. You can not make this stuff up. Well, it gets better. My oldest son and his wife left for Slovakia today. They found out a week and a half ago that they were pregnant. Life is crazy! They are going on a mission trip for Campus Crusade for Christ helping with the starting of the program there. They wanted to still go. The baby will be born over there, (not in Slovakia) probably in Austria or Hungary. Budapest, Hungary is about 45 minutes from where they will be. Their baby is due some time in the middle of April of next year and they are supposed to come back to the states in July.
I think that all this makes up for the non posting and you are brought up to date, except for the fact that we have not sold our house, yet. That fact could be for reasons I don’t see at the moment. My 2 grandkids from my daughter are doing beautifully and getting so big. I can’t believe that they are 3 and 4 years old. This will be my oldest sons first child. My youngest son is not married (not that that keeps you from having children). I was just clarifying my grandchildren status. I guess that is all for now.

We had our first meeting or social gathering. It was fun and enjoyable. This is an etsy team we have created of the Chattanooga etsians. We met a the downtown Starbucks. After Starbucks we walked over to one of the artist studios, (which was just across the street). Four of us showed up, I think there might be 6 of us in the group, so far. One works in felt, one works in paper, one knits, one works in metals (jewelry), one with glass, and the sixth one is a folk artist. It’s a real mix. Here’s their shop sites:

I have found a couple of great books. One, I have looked over more than the other. It is “Passing the Flame” by Corina Tettinger. It’s a great book on lamp-working. It is a must have for anyone in the glass bead-making business. She has a wonderful way with her writing that is clear to understand and the pictures are wonderful, too. She is humorous, also. Here’s her site: http://www.corinabeads.com/ I find her to be very inspirational. By reading her book, I can see several places I will be able to improve.
The other book is “The Art & Craft of Making Jewelry” by Joanna Gollberg. I think that I am going to like this one, too. Here’s her site: www.joannagollberg.com/. I am not equipped to do a-lot of the metal work, but I do enjoy the knowledge gained from it. I took a week long workshop, several years ago, on jewelry making (where you do all the soldering and bezels). It was fun using the jeweler saw, the rolling mill, and setting a stone. I would love to take another workshop on it. Of-course, I love taking any art class. You name it and I would probably love it. I think this is true with just about any artist.
I just thought I would share these great reference books.
